SERVICES

Individualized care for your child

Welcome to Skipping Stones Therapy, a pediatric speech-language therapy provider in the Seattle area.

My approach to speech therapy focuses on natural communication opportunities in your child’s day to help them meet the milestones that are important to your family.

My focus is on structuring your child’s development through services that are evidence based, collaborative and fun. Therapy services are offered in home, in school or via telehealth.

SPEECH-ARTICULATION

I support speech development from a motor-based perspective. I have training in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT) therapy and use this approach with children who have specific speech sound delays, apraxia and phonological processing disorders.

LANGUAGE

Challenges with understanding and using language, also known as a developmental language disorder, can refer to a range of symptoms (e.g. difficulty with word learning, syntax, narrative structures, social communication, etc.). I have experience working with children between the ages of 2-18 towards their unique goals.

LITERACY

Literacy skills are crucial for children to freely access information from the world around them. I am able to support pre-literacy, spelling/reading, and narrative language development from a systematic and multi-sensory approach.

EARLY INTERVENTION

Early development between the ages of birth to three is crucial for communicative and social-emotional development. I offer a collaborative approach with caregivers to identify specific strategies that will support a child's learning and expanded communiation.

STUTTERING and DISFLUENCIES

Disfluencies are characterized by disruptions in the flow of speech. These can include adding interjections in speech, such as "uh" or "um." Disfluencies such as initial word sound repetitions or prolongations are more consistent with a diagnosis of stuttering. I support atypical disfluencies related to developmental language disorders. Furthermore, I work with children who stutter from a wholistic approach, supporting management of negative reactions and navigating strategies for speaking more easily.
